Appetite genuinely shifts across a cycle. Resting metabolic rate rises modestly in the luteal phase, and many women feel hungrier before a period. That part is measurable.
What does not follow is the elaborate week-by-week eating plan. There is little evidence that specific foods in specific phases change hormones, symptoms or weight in the way those plans claim.
What does have support is unglamorous: enough iron if periods are heavy, enough protein and fibre to keep energy steady, and enough food overall — undereating suppresses ovulation more reliably than any food promotes it.
If cravings before a period are intense, that is common and not a failure of discipline.
